A Clevedon optician says he may retire after more than 30 years working in North Somerset.

Keith Tudball took over a business in Portishead in 1986 before moving to Tudball Opticians in Hill Road.

But Keith has left the business after it was taken over by a new owner two years ago.

He said: “Tudball Opticians was originally in the Portishead Precinct.

“I had established it in 1982 when it was owned by another company called Cohen and Weyman and managed it for them.

“John Adams and I took over the business ourselves in 1986 having bought it out.

“We set Hill Road up as well in 1996 from scratch.

“Some of the regulars had been seeing me for more than 30 years in Portishead or Clevedon and in some cases I had seen four generations of the same family.

“Retirement is one possibility but from the beginning of next year I am free to work locally again.”
