Clevedon Lions Club has donated thousands of pounds to a children's charity.

The club gave £2,000 to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) following its annual classic car event in April.

The rally saw 150 classic car owners drive their vehicles from Cadbury Garden Centre, in Congresbury, to the Salthouse Fields in Clevedon.

A spokesman for the Lions club said: “The annual event started 10 years ago and the Children’s Hospice has been a beneficiary every year.

“Some Lions members recently visited the hospice at Charlton Farm to talk to staff and see the valuable work that takes place supporting families.”

A raffle was also held on the day to add to the grand total.

The Lions club also donated thousands of pounds to community groups earlier in the year using funds raised from its 2016 Christmas float.
