A school has been able to complete its goal and buy new audio equipment thanks to Clevedon Lions Club.

The Lions handed St John the Evangelist Church School, in Clevedon, £750 from its Dream Scheme – which is raised from the club’s Santa float each year.

The students and staff had previously raised £1,750 themselves and the Lions presented a cheque for the remaining cash to the Friends of the school – completing its £2,500 project.

The equipment was installed over the summer holidays and is in daily use for assembly, dance, drama and other school events.

Lions president Sue Miller said: “This was an ideal project for our Dream Scheme, where we could top up the superb efforts by the Friends and allow completion of their project much earlier than planned.

“It is exactly what the Dream Scheme aims to do – to support the hard work of other voluntary groups.”
