A pair of girls from Clevedon have had the privilege of being mascots at cricket’s ICC Women’s World Cup.
Evelyn Davis, aged 10, and Ffion Reed, 8, attended the group stage match between England and Sri Lanka at Taunton’s County Ground on July 2.
The girls, who are both pupils at St Nicholas Chantry Primary School, walked alongside wicket keeper Sarah Taylor and bowler Anya Shrubsole on to the pitch before singing the national anthem.
The girls were also able to play a game of cricket on the outfield during the half-time break.
Evelyn’s mother, Sharon Davis, said: “It was a truly fantastic day and inspirational for the girls who are both learning the game and who now have new role models to look up to.”
England went on to win the match by seven wickets with a score of 206 runs for the loss of just three wickets.
