Thousands of pounds was raised in memory of a popular football coach.

The family of Andrew Iles hosted a firewalk in a bid to raise money for St Peter’s Hospice in his memory after he died in July 2017.

The walk attracted almost 70 people to ditch their shoes and run across hot coals.

The evening also consisted of a raffle, tombola, barbecue, music, an espresso truck and the walk itself.

Sarah Dunn, Andrew’s niece, praised the ‘fantastic night’ which raised around £7,000 for the hospice which cared for Andrew and his family after he was diagnosed through to his death.

An additional £1,000 from the event has been split between Penny Brohn, Cancer Research UK and also Weston Hospicecare.

The event was held at Clevedon United Football Club, where he managed various football teams for several years.
