Clevedon fire station recruiting on-call firefighters
PUBLISHED: 07:51 30 July 2019
People in Clevedon are being invited to give something back to the community by becoming on-call firefighters.
Avon Fire And Rescue Service is recruiting five new on-call staff to help provide cover from their station in Clevedon.
On-call firefighters use the same fire engines and equipment as their full-time colleagues the only difference is on-call firefighters provide support from their home or workplace, rather than a fire station.
In the last year, crews from Clevedon responded to 390 incidents.
Applicants need to live or work within five minutes travelling distance of the station during the hours they are available.
Sean Spearing, Clevedon Station Manager, said: "Being an on-call firefighter is extremely rewarding, allows you to develop new skills and provides a second income.
"There is a great sense of team spirit among the firefighters who are a vital part of the Avon Fire And Rescue Service family.
"We currently have five vacancies at Clevedon fire station and would encourage anyone in the local area to apply via our Yes You Can campaign.
"Those interested are also welcome to visit during drill night to discuss the role or can visit the Yes You Can website for more details."
Along with the drill nights, staff from Clevedon fire station will be at Clevedon Tesco to answer any questions people might have on August 3 from 10am to 4pm, and August 4 from 10am to 2pm.
