A Chinese restaurant in Clevedon will close next week.

Cheung Chaw Chop Suey House in Old Church Road will open for the final time on February 28.

The restaurant, also known as Round Window, has been open for more than 50 years with the venue run by different generations of the Mak family.

The neighbouring Cheung Chaw takeaway will continue running as normal but the restaurant will be replaced by houses.

John Mak, the father of current owner Howard, says the business has recently found it hard to employ enough staff.

He is grateful for the support people have shown the restaurant over the years.

John said: “The takeaway and delivery service will be running as usual.

“I would like to thank all our patrons for their many years of service to us.

“It is due to the fact it is harder to get staff these days.

“It’s not like we are struggling or run down.

“We just can’t keep going forever.”
