An annual clean-up of Clevedon beach will be held at the weekend.
Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) will host the event from 10-11.30am on Saturday, meeting by The Little Harp pub in Elton Road.
The SAS Autumn Beach Clean sees more than 300 events take place in the UK and is focusing on reducing plastic litter on beaches.
Hugo Tagholm, SAS chief executive, said: “With hundreds of plastic bottles littering every kilometre of our coastline there’s still plenty of work to be done before we can begin to imagine bottle-free beaches.
“We intend to lead from the front on removing and recycling them for as long as it takes but it’s truly exciting to think that, soon, we might not find them on our beach cleans anymore.”
The Times will soon be launching a new plastic campaign.
