The donations were handed over to Clevedon Foodbank and Nailsea and Backwell Children’s Centre to be distributed to families in need over the festive period.

A spokesman said: “We were incredibly impressed with the generosity shown during the week, by those giving their time to man the shop, the precinct for donating the building to us for a week and all those who came and gave toys, toiletries and food.

“We received far more toys than last year which we hope will help to make the Christmases of the many families who really don’t have any gifts other than those they receive through the children’s centre.

“We know last year every single item was used and gladly received and we’re hoping the same will be true this year.”
