Two newly-refurbished churches were shown off to the public as part of an open day in Portishead.

A total of £750,000 has been spent on improvements at the Church of England’s St Nicholas’ and St Peter’s churches.

An event was held on Sunday to thank supporters of the project and give people the chance to see how the money has been spent.

At St Peter’s Church in Church Road South, a new extension has been built to house a kitchen and toilets. A cross of nails and new banner have also been put up inside the building.

St Nicholas’ Church in Nore Road has a new roof, its stonework has been cleaned and the inside of the building has been rearranged to create a new community space.
