Following on from the success of last year’s competition, Clevedon family business Shopland Sawmills will once again bring some Christmas cheer to two local families, by giving away two home-grown 6ft Nordmann fir trees worth £45 each.

James Shopland said: "Last year's competition was a great success and a lovely opportunity to give back to the community that supports our business throughout the year. We hope we'll have lots of entries again this year and look forward to giving away trees to the lucky winners."

The business has been at its Old Street site for 120 years and James is the most recent incumbent of the sawmills, having taken over the reins in 2018 from his father, David Shopland.

As well as selling fencing and timber products to retail and trade customers, Shoplands added Christmas trees to its range nearly 10 years ago and now sells hundreds every December.

The Nordmann Firs are a non-needle dropping variety which has now become the nation's favourite type of Christmas tree.
