‘Devastated’ club bids farewell to founding member

A rotary club is ‘devastated’ after the death of one of its longest-standing members.

Chris Morris, who was one of the founding members of the Clevedon Yeo Rotary Club in 1991, has died after a battle with cancer.

Before his death, he was helping to organise a concert for Cancer Research UK.

He was well known as the owner of Bay View Nursing Home, which he ran with his wife Maggie.

He was also president of the club for a period of time and had been awarded the prestigious Paul Harris Award by the Rotary Organisation for his fundraising efforts.

Club president Tony Carrington said: "He has lost his battle to be at the event but we really want to pack Christchurch in his memory.

"He will be greatly missed by family, friends and the wider community where he spent so much time and effort raising funds and helping charitable causes."

The concert will be held on May 11 at 7.30pm.
