A cheque for hundreds of pounds has been donated to Children’s Hospice South West by Portishead Lions.

Wraxall’s Charlton Farm, which opened 10 years ago, will benefit from the £500 donation and will use the cash to support children with life-limiting or terminal illness, as well as their families.

The Lions raised the money by raffling off some chocolate Christmas Santas at the end of last year.

Kylie Gallagher, community fundraiser at Charlton Farm, thanked Portishead Lions and all who had contributed to the fundraiser and said to receive money from the group meant a lot.

Ms Gallagher said: “This donation is particularly appreciated because although we do have volunteers from the Portishead area, we don’t currently have a local Friends group doing fundraising for us in the town.”
