Youngsters from Pill and Portishead explored the mad world of Dr Seuss during the half-term school holidays.

The Story Cellar welcomed children aged six to 11 years old last week to perform versions of some of the author’s best characters.

The Cat In The Hat, The Grinch and The Fox In Socks joined the Lorax in his bid to save the Truffula Trees.

The youths read stories, played games and developed characters over the two-day event.

Story Cellar founder Liz Felton said: “They explored puppetry, mask and prop making and all took great steps of bravery in performing their creation for an audience at the end of the project.”

The next event will be the club’s summer school from August 7-9.

The children will get to meet the giant sea creature puppet
and enjoy underground adventures in Exploring 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea by Jules Verne.
