A PORTISHEAD school has said goodbye to its long-serving secretary.
Charmaine Furlong who is a former pupil of the school, retired on April 8 after 21 years of service at St Joseph’s Primary School.
During her time at St Joseph’s, Charmaine has worked alongside three different headteachers, the longest serving being Sister Marie of La Sainte Union, the order of nuns that opened the school in 1906.
Sister Marie joined 86 guests at a retirement tea at the Bristol Road school and more than 90 parents joined with staff and pupils at a celebration assembly to wish Charmaine a happy, healthy and active retirement.
The service finished with the teaching staff entertaining everyone with their very own rendition of Admin Queen aka Dancing Queen by Abba, which brought the house
