Families, groups of friends, colleagues and runners set off from Scotch Horn Leisure Centre on Sunday to complete one of the 5km, 10km or 20km routes around the countryside.

The event, which is in its sixth year, is organised by the Rotary Club of Nailsea and Backwell who have hailed this year’s walk as ‘a resounding success’.

Rotarian Graham Hunt said: “The rotary club would like to thank all who took part, their sponsors and the helpers for making the day such a success.

“We are grateful to all the event sponsors, particularly main sponsor H Sweet and Sons.

“While it is too early to know the final figures, it is clear that over £20,000 will have been raised to help support around 30 local charities and clubs.”
