A ladies’ group has presented a cheque for hundreds of pounds to help fund a lounge area at a Clevedon venue.

Roni Douglas, chairman of the Clevedon Ladies’ Evening Group, handed over £1,800 to Eleanor Wade from Clevedon Community Association.

The money was raised through events including coffee mornings, skittle events and raffles.

The cash will be used to refurbish the seating in the bar lounge at Clevedon Community Centre.

The centre acts as a popular hub for people, with rooms to hire out and the Princes Hall theatre available for performances all year round.

The centre is self-funded and is a registered charity and relies on the donations and hiring fees to survive.

A quiz night will be held on April 27 at 8pm in Princes Hall, in Princes Road, to raise money for a new boiler for the centre.

Teams of up to six people are permitted and can be booked on 01275 873405.
