A charitable donation will help RNLI Portishead care for any injured people it has to help in an emergency.

Gordano Breakfast Rotary Club has handed a £700 cheque to the organisation which it will use to improve its lifeboat station in Pier Road.

The money will pay for four large blackout blinds which the RNLI can use to protect the privacy of anyone who is injured and needs treatment at the centre.

Rotary president Bernd Langheim is also a RNLI crew member and said the donation will be a big help.

He said: “The blackout blinds are an enormous help as the privacy of an injured person is protected from public viewing.

“Gordano Rotary is happy to support RNLI Portishead.”

The money was handed over during one of the RNLI’s regular Sunday morning training sessions earlier this month.
