Cash boost for Backwell Lake
A PROJECT to install a footpath around Backwell Lake to make it more accessible has been given a cash boost.
Backwell Parish Council has agreed to donate a further 1,500 to the cause while Nailsea Town Council is giving 1,000 to help with unforseen legal costs.
Backwell Access Group (BAG) has applied to the Big Lottery Fund for the 25,000 needed for the project.
There is currently no path around the beauty spot which makes it difficult for wheelchair and pushchair users to access.
BAG is hoping to submit a planning application for the scheme within the next few months and if it is agreed it is hoped that work will start on the path in October.
