Cash boost for Backwell Lake

A PROJECT to install a footpath around Backwell Lake to make it more accessible has been given a cash boost.

Backwell Parish Council has agreed to donate a further £1,500 to the cause while Nailsea Town Council is giving £1,000 to help with unforseen legal costs.

Backwell Access Group (BAG) has applied to the Big Lottery Fund for the £25,000 needed for the project.

There is currently no path around the beauty spot which makes it difficult for wheelchair and pushchair users to access.

BAG is hoping to submit a planning application for the scheme within the next few months and if it is agreed it is hoped that work will start on the path in October.
