Cash boost for Backwell charity

A CHARITY from Backwell has been given almost 3,000 to pay for new equipment and running costs.

Backwell Access Group, which offers advice and support to people with disabilities and campaigns for better access to facilities, has received a grant of 2,290 from the Quartet Community Foundation.

The group has bought a new computer with the money and Karl Perriman from the ICT Workshop in Nailsea has been working with members to help them make the most of their new equipment. It will be fitted with voice software so members do not have to be able to type to use it.

The cash will also be used to cover secretarial costs, carer support for meetings and transport costs to enable members to join in group activities.
