A DECISION to raise car parking charges at two facilities in Clevedon is due to be made by North Somerset Council.

The authority’s executive is expected to make a decision on increasing charges at the Hawthorns and Salthouse Fields car parks tomorrow.

With the authority looking to make unprecedented levels of savings in the light of an unfavourable Government funding settlement, raising charges at car parks across the district is seen as an important way of bringing in extra cash.

Charges for a four-hour stay at both car parks during a new peak period of March 2 to October 31 would rise from 3 to 4, with an all-day stay rising to 6.

In off-peak months, charges for an all-day stay would rise from 3 to 4.
