AN ANIMAL lover in Portishead is making a desperate attempt to save Zak, a Staffordshire Bull terrier, from being destroyed.

Animal rescue volunteer Sally King is looking for a loving home for the 10-year-old pooch after he was abandoned by his owners seven months ago.

The mum-of-three said: “Zak is a lovely dog who needs a bit of tender loving care. His age seems to be against him, people looking for a rescue dog are favouring the younger animals.”

Because of his age, HEART, the rescue organisation Sally helps run, has pledged to cover any vet bills incurred by Zak in the future.

Sally added: “Zak is very friendly, loves walks and lying in the garden - someone out there must want to give him the loving home he deserves.

“We need a home with someone who has no other animals as Zak’s background has made him a bit wary of other pets.”

Anyone interested in offering Zak a home can call Sally on 01275 848297 or 07929 871350.
