A NEW Clevedon cub pack invested its first 13 members around a camp fire.

The pack, called Beswick Blackmore, was created by 1st Clevedon Scouts to cope with the increasing demand for places in the popular scouting movement.

In November the Times reported how the Gordano Scouting District, which covers Nailsea, Clevedon, Portishead and the surrounding villages, had seen a 30 per cent rise in demand from both girls and boys. As a result, a third scout group is also due to be created in Portishead.

Clevedon’s Beswick Blackmore pack has been named after two men who were previously part of the 1st Clevedon Scouts trustee group and will meet on Wednesday evenings at the group’s base off Great Western Road.
