MEMBERS of Portishead Skatepark Project (PSP) have challenged Portishead Town Council to find a suitable site for a skate park.

After years of searching, PSP has investigated every location that members have found which meets the criteria set out for a successful skatepark, yet every site uncovered has been dismissed by North Somerset Council.

Speaking at the June town council meeting, Liese Stanley said that after being turned down for landlord’s consent by the unitary authority to site the skatepark at the Lake Grounds, executive members had advised PSP that town councillors say there are other suitable sites available. Ms Stanley appealed to councillors to identify them as soon as possible so the project could at last move forward.

Meanwhile, with no alternative location in sight, members of PSP are trying to re-open negotiations with North Somerset Council to site the facility at the Lake Grounds.
