PORTISHEAD air cadets have made a plea to the community to help them find a temporary home.

Work will soon begin on the building of a new head quarters at the Station Road site which is home to Portishead 2494 Squadron cadets. The existing buildings will be demolished and replaced with new modern facilities.

While this is exciting news for all concerned, it means the cadets will be without a base for about six months while the work is completed.

A spokesman for the organisation said: “We are desperate to find alternative accommodation for our cadets to continue their twice-weekly parade nights and are looking for a venue to hire.”

The squadron currently meets on Mondays and Wednesdays between 7-9.30pm.

Anyone who can help should contact Flight Lieutenant Martyn Beynon, the commanding officer, on 01275 842372 during these hours or e-mail 2494@aircadets.org
