A PORTISHEAD business has launched a Keep Trade Local campaign.
Broker HLI based at Greystoke Business Centre in the town’s High Street, is urging local residents and businesses to keep trade local after the British Retail Consortium (BRC) revealed that nationally thousands of small independent shops have been closing at an alarming rate, with more than one in 10 shops empty.
There are currently three empty shops in Portishead’s High Street.
Concerned by this worrying trend, HLI wants to help businesses in the town to promote their services and discuss opportunities that can help their business grow.
To kick start the campaign, HLI has created some Keep Trade Local stickers for shops to display to encourage shoppers to buy goods locally. The campaign is also expected to encourage independent businesses to work together, run competitions and provide updates on local trading issues.
