A NEW ice cream parlour and milkshake bar in Portishead High Street is combining the best of both worlds.

Shanicatti Shakes in the former Scrumptious café premises at the Old Bakehouse, is a popular tearoom serving drinks, snacks, freshly-made sandwiches, home-made cakes and a wide range of ice creams and shakes.

However, it is also a trendy shakes bar offering whippy ice cream and the biggest range of milkshake flavours in town.

Owners Sharon Lideatt and Nicola Belcher, sisters who grew up in Easton-in-Gordano and attended St Katherine’s School in Ham Green, say they want to provide something special for young people and they welcome school pupils and students with open arms.

Sharon said: “We both have teenage children and decided to provide something new and exciting for them, somewhere they can hang out with their friends and feel comfortable. However, we want to appeal to the whole community so we just make it known that once the school day is finished we are likely to be a little noisier and busier than at other times of the day.”
