A historic Clevedon mansion has donated its venue to Rooms To Reward (RTR) to say thank you to a charity’s volunteers.
Volunteers from Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA), the UK’s oldest national charity supporting the Armed Forces, will enjoy exclusive use of Clevedon Hall – a grade-II listed mansion – for one night.
They will enjoy a vintage afternoon tea followed by an extravagant banquet with fine wine and fizz and an overnight stay at the venue in recognition of their dedication to the charity.
SSAFA provides lifelong support to serving men and women and their families who are serving in a branch of the armed forces.
The charity also dedicates its time to work with veterans when they return from service.
SSAFA volunteer support manager, Lorna Muffett, said: “At SSAFA, we could not do what we do without our volunteers.
“They are at the heart of our work with the armed forces family.
“From supporting veterans and their families, combating loneliness and isolation to fundraising and essential admin jobs, they are a vital part of helping those who gave everything for our country.
“To be able to celebrate some of our inspirational volunteers with such a special event is amazing. Thank you to Clevedon Hall and RTR.”
RTR is an initiative which works with hoteliers to help celebrate and recognise the work of charity workers and volunteers by gifting them with a well-earned rest.
Clevedon Hall managing director James Matthews said: “I met Adam at an event and was touched by the amazing work of RTR and wondered how Clevedon Hall could help them in a way no other property could.
“SSAFA is a fantastic cause and we are looking forward to welcoming the volunteers to Clevedon Hall later this month.
“The work it does to support the armed forces cannot be repaid enough but our goal is to give those who deserve special recognition the evening they very much deserve.”
RTR’s Adam Terpening said: “When James first made the offer, I was speechless. I am delighted we are able to put this wonderful donation to such great use.”
