A NEW shop has been opened in Clevedon in the hope of transforming the lives of less fortunate people.
Changing Lives in Clevedon is a joint venture between Andrew House, a halfway house for recovering addicts in Victoria Road, and Crisis Centre Ministries, which is based in St Paul’s in Bristol and provides help for the homeless.
The Kenn Road shop began trading on July 19, selling mostly second-hand furniture along with other second-hand items.
Andrew House chairman of directors Jeff Peacock, who also volunteers for the St Paul’s charity, said: “We wanted to differentiate from other charity shops, which is why we are concentrating on second-hand furniture.
“We hope to provide a real service by recycling items that may have ended up at the tip.
“In just the first week the shop took about �4,000 - based on that this seems a fantastic opportunity.”
Changing Lives in Clevedon is run by manager Jacque Deal and a number of volunteers.
They are able to deliver items to customers’ homes and also pick-up any unwanted items to be sold in the shop.
