Eight teenagers from Gordano Scout District are preparing to fly half way around the world this summer.

Jack Davidson, Kody Golding, Luned Stevens, Callum Wardle, Alex Marsh, Jonathan Gatherole, Ed Callow and Abbie Bush will be jetting off to Japan to take part in the World Scout Jamboree.

It will be held from July 28 to August 8 and will see thousands of scouts from across the world congregate to meet people from other backgrounds and to take part in activities.

This year’s event will be held in Yamaguchi.

Ed, who lives in Kingston Seymour, said: “This is the trip of a lifetime, a great adventure and we will make friends from all over the world.”

About 70 scouts from the area will take part in the event.
