A Portishead firm has received a royal award.

Viper Subsea, which specialises in engineering consultancy, received its Queen’s Award for Enterprise on Friday.

The company was presented with the award by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset Annie Maw. It received the prize for its V-LIFE system, which is used in offshore fields.

Managing director Mark Douglas said: “Receiving the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation is a pinnacle in achievement for the V-LIFE system.

“The Queen’s Award for Innovation is one which all staff at Viper Subsea can be proud of.”
