A Nailsea firm has been awarded for encouraging its employees to car share and cycle to work.

GE Oil and Gas, in High Street, was presented with a silver award for its commitment to sustainable travel at the annual Travelwest Business Awards, hosted by North Somerset Council.

The company was commended for its travel plan which encourages and supports employees who car share and cycle to work.

In the past year, GE Oil and Gas has installed a free electric car charging point, added 50 car share spaces and opened an additional bike shed, more showers and new drying rooms.

Jane Gibbons, facilities leader at GE Oil and Gas, said: “We are delighted that the great efforts made by this site to support sustainable travel, through activities such as our vibrant car sharing scheme, have been recognised by the local authorities.”
