Yatton Vets launched yesterday (Monday) at the former Natwest building in Pages Court shopping precinct, which has been vacant since 2015.

The business is owned by Shaun Taylor, who graduated from Langford’s Bristol Vet School 12 years ago, will lead a small team of three staff including his own mum, Pat.

He claims owning his own business is a ‘dream come true’ and says Yatton’s ‘rapid expansion’ means there will be enough work to share with the village’s existing vet, Watkins & Tasker.

Shaun said: “I have always had a passion to run my own business, and now I am finally seeing that dream come true.

“The real draw for me is having one-to-one contact with my clients and their pets, and building a lasting and trusting relationship with them.

“Personal service, clear communication, and doing the right thing for a fair price, are all key philosophies in my work.

“We have always respected our competition, they are good vets.

“Our aim is not to damage their business, but to offer clients a fair choice.

“Yatton is rapidly expanding and becoming increasingly popular with pet-owning families.

“We feel there is more than enough work to support two vets in this area.

Yatton Vets will offer clients 15-minute consultations with the aim of making customers feel ‘at home’, while he and his mum can both communicate in British Sign Language.

Shaun will also cover the majority of the service’s out-of-hours work.

He added: “I will cover 90 per cent of the practice’s out-of-hours work myself on a standby basis, as well as working full days at the surgery.

“We offer a variety of services on site, including surgical procedures, overnight inpatient care and out-of-hours emergency facilities.

“My mum Pat and I can also both communicate in British Sign Language, for any deaf or hard of hearing clients that require veterinary assistance.

“We aim to make clients feel at home within our practice and to treat their pets like they are our own.”
