The importance of supporting independent businesses has been stressed in a national event.
Small Business Saturday seeks to promote local shops over national ones to ensure high streets flourish and remain varied.
North Somerset’s MP Dr Liam Fox joined in the activities.
He visited Bakers’ butchers shop in Nailsea and a number of retailers in Clevedon’s Hill Road, including Butterflies coffee shop and Books On The Hill.
He told the Times the event was a big success and hopes it continues in the years to come.
