AN APPLICATION to build a Holiday Inn Express hotel in Portishead has been turned down due to concerns over a lack of parking.
Members of the North Somerset Council north area planning committee refused the plans for the 108-bed facility at the junction of Harbour Road and Newfoundland Way on Thursday.
The main reason given was the low number of parking spaces included in the proposal, a total of 87 including four disabled bays.
Councillors raised concerns about the parking trouble that already exists in the Harbour Road area and said they did not want the hotel to add to this.
