MORE than £10,000 has been given to the Carers Trust thanks to the generosity of Portishead shoppers.
The Co-operative store in Wyndham Way raised the money by organising an extensive programme of fundraising events throughout 2013 ranging from in-store cake sales and raffles to comedy stands and exercise challenges. As a result, the Portishead team was named Co-op’s highest in-store fundraising team in England and Wales.
The shop’s fundraising co-ordinator Fiona Mason said: “We couldn’t do this without our customers, who we would like to thank for their continued support. Only one store in the UK raised more and that was in Scotland, but they had better watch out as we will be giving them a good run for their money in 2014.” Co-op store manager Mike Mullett and Fiona are pictured presenting a cheque for £10,700 to Carers Trust regional fundraiser Sara Williams.
