AN APPLICATION to change a Clevedon town centre shop into a café and hot food takeaway has been thrown out.
The proposal to change the use of the unit at 15 Old Street, formerly a games shop, was considered by North Somerset Council’s north area planning committee on Thursday but refused.
Prior to the meeting, Clevedon Town Council had recommended the plans be refused due to the high number of takeaway and food outlets in the area. Refusal was also recommended due to the fact there is a lack of parking in Old Street.
At Thursday’s meeting, councillors voted against the application based on the same grounds.
This was despite North Somerset Council planning officers recommending the plans be approved.
