A PORTISHEAD veterinary practice has been recognised for going an extra mile when it comes to pet friendly services.
Vale Vets is one of only 30 practices in the country to have received the prestigious Gold status awarded by International Cat Care (ICC) for being a cat friendly clinic.
The Beach Road West practice has gone beyond the requirements set out by the ICC and has also installed separate waiting rooms for cats and dogs.
Vet Louise Alexander said: “Cats do not travel well and hate being away from home in a place where the sounds and smells are unfamiliar. They get extremely stressed if they have to share space with dogs, which is why we are so excited that we have been able to make space for a cat only waiting room.”
To achieve the Gold status, Vale Vets have a hospital ward for in-patients dedicated to cats and larger cat friendly cages for hospitalised pets.
