SHOPPERS at Clevedon’s Asda supermarket have helped raise money for a poorly young boy who hopes to receive treatment abroad.
Staff at the store in Tweed Road have handed a cheque for �100 to Harvey Hext after customers decided his appeal was the most worthy of a donation by dropping tokens given to them at the till into a box labelled with his details.
Harvey, aged five from Winford, has both Down’s Syndrome and neuroblastoma, a rare type of cancer that attacks the nervous system. He has already undergone extensive treatment but the cancer is still present so his parents have launched an appeal to raise �300,000 to pay for pioneering treatment overseas.
Karen Johnson, community life colleague at Asda in Clevedon, now plans to hold more events to raise money for Harvey’s appeal.
