SHOPPERS at Clevedon’s Asda supermarket have helped raise money for a poorly young boy who hopes to receive treatment abroad.
Staff at the store in Tweed Road have handed a cheque for 100 to Harvey Hext after customers decided his appeal was the most worthy of a donation by dropping tokens given to them at the till into a box labelled with his details.
Harvey, aged five from Winford, has both Down’s Syndrome and neuroblastoma, a rare type of cancer that attacks the nervous system. He has already undergone extensive treatment but the cancer is still present so his parents have launched an appeal to raise 300,000 to pay for pioneering treatment overseas.
Karen Johnson, community life colleague at Asda in Clevedon, now plans to hold more events to raise money for Harvey’s appeal.
Anyone wishing to get involved can call her on 01275 517900.
