High street grocers Waitrose entered into a partnership with the department store John Lewis to form the famous John Lewis Partnership 75 years ago.

To mark the anniversary of the union, Waitrose has planted hundreds of trees in communities throughout the UK.

Partners from Portishead donated apple trees to primary schools in the town and oak trees to Avon Wildlife Trust for Portbury Wharf nature reserve.

They also presented two mulberry trees to Portishead in Bloom, which have been planted opposite the open-air swimming pool and a walnut and almond tree to Transition Portishead for the community nuttery in Avon Way.
