One of the most striking business frontages in Portishead has been praised by the Gordano Society.
The organisation has launched a new Annual Civic Award which was presented at the town council’s annual meeting on May 18.
It recognised the redesign of Gordano Carpets, in High Street near the Cabstand, and the prize was presented to Gavin Brake, the building’s owner and company co-director.
Mike Johnston, who handed out the award on behalf of the group, said: “The Gordano Civic Society, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, felt that the new-build fronting the old library building fitted and enhanced the streetscape very well, not just complementing the neighbouring buildings but enhancing them with it’s presence.”
