A dance class from Portishead has managed to raise vital money for one of North Somerset’s best-supported charities.

Portishead LeRoc held a charity dance in aid of Children’s Hospice South West, which drew people from across the UK.

Bring Down The House, a 14-piece band, meant there was plenty of entertainment to enjoy.

Organisers also ran a raffle, with 25 prizes up for grabs. Tickets cost £25, to mark the charity’s 25th anniversary year.

A total in excess of £1,000 was raised.

Heather Parsons, from Portishead LeRoc, said: “This dance is one of the highlights of our year and we are delighted to have raised so much money for the charity.

“Thanks to the support of local individuals and businesses we surpassed this target and had a total raffle prize value of more than £1,000.

“It was a brilliant night and we raised a huge sum for the charity.”
