A Kenn-based flight school has been shortlisted in a national business competition.

Bristol Groundschool, located in Windmill Road, has been revealed as a finalist in the micro business of the year category in the 2015 Growing Business Awards which will be held in London on November 26.

Part of the school’s success has come as a result of the implementation of an innovative new e-learning software package they developed. This provides students with training which gives them the best possible opportunity to complete the course.

Alex Whittingham, managing director, said: “To be a finalist in these national business awards is a great honour and reflects the achievements of both my staff and our students who have been part of our success.”

The school supports more than 1,000 students every year and past graduates have included Prince William and members of the Red Arrows team.

Bristol Groundschool was founded in 1992 and is one of 185 flight schools currently operating in the UK.

It is also the only flight school in the country to be recommended by the British Airline Pilots Association (BALPA).

The Growing Business Awards were created by Real Business and the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) in 1999 and has since become the most established and respected recognition of entrepreneurial success in the country.
