A bucket collection has raised hundreds of pounds for a children’s charity.

Members of the Clevedon Yeo Rotary Club stood outside the Bristol Bears versus Worcester Rugby game at Ashton Gate, in Bristol, to raise money for Children's Hospice South West.

The loose change of fans has been counted and topped up with club funds and a cheque for £1,000 was presented to the hospice, which has a base in Wraxall as well as in Barnstaple and St Austell.

Treasurer Rob Ainsworth said: "Two lots of thanks to all the rugby fans who contributed and to the work of the small, dedicated team that is Clevedon Yeo Rotary.

"We also were very grateful for the assistance of a few Friends of Rotary on the collection day.

"Clevedon Yeo Rotary is small but we are punching above our weight when it comes to fundraising and energy and enthusiasm for our community."
