CLEVEDON Community Centre has received a boost with new volunteers helping to promote the facility and a small profit being made in the past year.

The Princes Road centre has been struggling for the past few years with the charity that runs it, Clevedon Community Association, having to pay for repairs and cover maintenance costs.

This time last year, the Times ran an appeal for more volunteers to come forward to help spruce up some of the rooms and also help to promote the facility.

Following the appeal, 10 new volunteers came forward immediately and, in the past few months, three new active volunteers, Jane Geldart, Howard Coggins and Jonathon Buck, have also joined the team.

At the charity’s recent AGM, it was revealed that for the first time in a while the centre had made a small profit.

It is now hoped this can be improved on even more with the help of a professional fundraiser and the work has already begun with a jumble sale on August 13 raising more than £400.
