Villagers are being asked to count the number of birds in their garden for a survey.

Yatton and Congresbury Wildlife Action Group (YACWAG) will run its 12th annual bird survey later this month.

People living in those villages are asked to keep a tally of the birds they see between Christmas Eve and January 2.

The figures help YACWAG to keep abreast of local bird populations.

YACWAG secretary Win Lowman said: “You don’t have to be a member to take part.

“Survey forms are available on the YACWAG website at www.yacwag.org.uk, from Yatton and Congresbury libraries or from me at winlowman@hotmail.co.uk or on 01934 833596.

“The closing date for return of surveys is January 10 and those returned will be entered into a prize draw.

“The results of the survey will be sent to entrants and posted on the YACWAG website and in the Times.”
