Dozens of hardy people turned out at a beach clean in Portishead at the weekend.

Turn The Tide Portishead orchestrated a clean up of Woodhill Bay Beach on Saturday, with a dedicated team working in tandem to rid the area of harmful plastics.

The group also unveiled a new piece of street art at the lido, in Esplanade Road, which promotes its mission to clean North Somerset’s coastline.

A spokesman said: “On a cold January day more than 100 people joined forces with us to clean the beach.

“This is a fantastic achievement which shows how much the people of Portishead and North Somerset care about where they live.

“The team was extra excited to point people to the lido wall where their very own street art has appeared courtesy of a Bristol artist who wishes not to be named.

“This clever artwork carries a poignant and topical message close to the group’s heart.”
