Motorists have been urged to avoid Long Ashton after a fatal collision this morning (Saturday).

A male pedestrian was killed near Ashton Gate, in Bristol, in the early hours of the morning after being hit by a car.

There are large queues and delays on roads entering the city, including the A370 in Long Ashton, with diversions in place.

An Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokesman said: “Collision investigators are currently examining the scene and are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who may have information.

“They expect to be at the scene most of the morning and motorists are being urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes.”

Diversion details:

– Travelling inbound to Bristol city centre from A370 or Clanage Road you will need to exit towards Winterstoke Road/airport, head down to the first roundabout, turn round and come back bearing right onto the underpass into the centre/Portway.

– Travelling outbound from Bristol city centre, exit towards Winterstoke Road/airport, head down to the first roundabout, turn round and keeping to the left travel back onto the A370.
