safer: Backwell Parish Council is applying to Bristol Airport’s Local Community Fund for a grant to make one of the village’s pavements safer.
Villagers appealed for the path to be widened next to the crossing on West Town Road, near the Rising Sun Pub, at a parish council meeting last month.
Nick Hewitt, of Kellways, said villagers are delighted with the new crossing, but the pavement is so narrow people with wheelchairs and buggies have trouble accessing it.
It will cost 4,850 to make the path wider and Backwell Parish Council is now preparing a funding application to submit to Bristol Airport.
